Healing Stages

How can I help you?

I am a holistic health coach.

What I do is work with you to help you achieve the goals you set. We would look at your eating habits and your overall lifestyle. We would then identify what is preventing you from achieving your goals. This may involve identifying your stress level in different aspects of your life; it may involve identifying the triggers of emotional eating; or the reasons why you are not able to achieve a good night sleep; or the lack of motivation to incorporate movement into your weekly schedule. We would look at the whole picture of your life; just like a puzzle where each piece needs to fit properly, we would deconstruct your life, assess where the pieces do not fit and recommend some changes for you to become your best and obtain optimal health.

Why call it healing? I decided to use Healing in my slogan since I truly believe that most of us have abused not only our bodies to the point that internally, our bodies need healing but also our souls by not respecting ourselves. The goal of the healing stages program is to educate you to own your health through knowledge, education and changes to your lifestyle. The power is within you.

We are all different and what may work for one individual may not necessarily work for you; this is the concept of bio-individuality. We would look at your age, your level of exercise and your personal preferences to determine what would be the best dietary needs for YOU.

During our initial consultation, we would explore where you would like to be 6 months from now by setting personal goals and define how I will be able to support you through the program of your choice. Not ready to commit to the 6 months program, we can arrange for a 3 month program, private or group cooking classes, a health store tour may also be beneficial. Pantry raid can be helpful if you are committed to eating healthier and control the impulse buying we all face every day. For the program to be successful, you will need to commit and do the work, I can only support you and guide you. This is where the 6 or 3 months program are most beneficial, it has been found that it takes about 6 months for habits to set in and for lifestyle changes to have a long lasting effect.

Food is one of our greatest tool to improve our health or it can be detrimental if we have undetermined allergies. We want to get up in the morning and achieve what we set out to do... Life can be a vicious cycle when we are down but can be so wonderful when we have a positive outlook and know that what we eat makes us feel better.

To our health!

Essential Elements Of Healing

In order to obtain wellness, all these elements should be addressed. Following an optimal nutrition plan (not a diet) and attending to the self - care aspect of our lives will allow us to accept situations for what they are, to have a clearer vision of what we want and help us define what is truly important. To me, balance means being able to relax (something some of us need to learn, you know who you are), being able to be multi-tasking without the craziness, being able to face whatever obstacle with a more positive outlook, being able to say no if it interferes with our well being, having the energy to socialize, enjoy nature, play with our children and do more family oriented activities. We all lead chaotic lives; however, defining what is important and respecting our choices are part of leading a well managed life.

Nutrition Elements Of Healing

You will notice that dairy is not part of this diagram and is not considered to be necessarily essential to our health; there are other ways to get the nutrients that dairy provide through different foods ( i.e. broccoli). There is an enormous amount of controversy regarding dairy and its consequences on one's body, some of Dr. Willett's conclusions on milk are posted in this excerpt.

Self-Care Element Of Healing

Personal Wellbeing: Being Loved, Healthy, Happy is what we all want out of our personal lives, isn't it? We often need to stop and prioritize what is important to us, our family, our friends, and our pets of course.

Professional Wellbeing: Being Appreciated, Happy, Prosperous is what we all wish out of our professional lives, but it is much more complicated these days. It seems that we are on a 24/7 schedule for less appreciation, happiness and prosperity. It is imperative that we create boundaries in order to achieve some sanity.

Physical Activity: Movement is essential in optimal health and we need to devote it some time. Many of us do not enjoy exercising; however, once you start to see differences in your energy level, around your waist, how you feel about yourself, it becomes much easier. Start out slow but be consistent.

Soul Nourishment: We need to remember that some of us have hobbies, be it: knitting, reading, writing, doing puzzles, painting... Whatever activities we may enjoy, these fill our hearts with joy and bring a certain peace to our beings; we feel more centered after doing something we love.

As Charles Buxton said:

" You will never find time for anything.
If you want time, you must make it."
